WordPress
Put your agent's chat on a WordPress site with the ChatterLab plugin, without touching your theme.
The ChatterLab plugin puts your agent's chat button on every public page of a WordPress site. It adds the same script as the snippet on the agent's Deploy page (Install the widget), from its own settings, so your theme stays as it is. The plugin is free and works on every plan.
Note. The plugin is not in the WordPress plugin directory yet. Until it is, paste the snippet into your theme's footer as Install the widget describes.
Setting it up
- In WordPress, under Plugins, add a new plugin: search for ChatterLab, install it and activate it.
- In ChatterLab, on your agent's Deploy page, copy the snippet under Chat widget.
- In WordPress, under Settings, open ChatterLab, paste the snippet into Agent ID and save. The plugin keeps only the agent's ID, which starts with
ag_. - Back on the Deploy page, add your site's address under Allowed domains (Allowed domains), so that no other site can show your agent.
The plugin's settings page is in English for now.
The settings
- Agent ID: which of your agents talks to your visitors. Empty takes the chat off your site.
- Widget language: the language of the chat's own texts, such as its buttons. Automatic (the agent's own) follows the languages you gave the agent (Languages and the AI notice). Answers follow the language the visitor writes in either way.
- Address: only for an agency that serves ChatterLab from a hostname of its own (Your own domain). Only a WordPress user who may add scripts to the site can change it.
Everything else, what your agent knows, how the chat looks and what it says, is set in ChatterLab.
What it does not do
- It shows the chat on every public page; it cannot keep it to some pages. It never loads in the WordPress admin or on the login page.
- It sets no cookies and sends nothing from your server: the visitor's browser loads the chat from ChatterLab, as it does with the snippet.
- If you pasted the snippet into your theme before, remove it once the plugin shows the chat, so that the chat loads from one place only.
